David Hicks

David Hicks, 81, passed away, after a short illness, in the Clifton Springs Nursing Home on March 14 of this year. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease for over 22 years and had been a resident there for the last several years.

David was a lifelong resident of Phelps and was very involved in the community. He was a member of the United Church in Phelps and held several positions there during his life. For many years he was a member of the Phelps Lions Club, the Phelps Historical Society ´and the Phelps Sauerkraut Festival committee.

David was a graduate of Phelps High School class of 1960 and received a degree in History from Harper College, now SUNY Binghamton.

He was born in the Clifton Springs Hospital to his parents Russell Hicks and Margaret Brink Hicks who have predeceased him. He is survived by his sisters, Deborah Hicks Coover (Harry) of Phelps and Keuka Park, and Susan Hicks Lambert of Riverside, CA; his brother William Hicks (Connie) of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and their families.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. There will be a memorial service later at the convenience of the family.
