1950-2026
David Charles Shoff, 75, of Penn Yan, passed away on January 26, 2026, after battling a long illness.
David was born in Penn Yan in 1950 to Lyle and Celia Shoff. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1968 and then joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served from 1968 to 1972.
In 1974, David married his soulmate and the love of his life, Sherri. The couple spent the next 50 years together until her passing in 2025. David worked for NYSEG and AES at the Dresden Greenidge Power Station for 30 years. He also loved working on the family farm, making hay and feeding Herefords.
David was an avid sports fan, rooting for Syracuse, the Boston Celtics, the Boston Red Sox, and the Miami Dolphins, especially when they were winning. Above all else, family meant everything to him. Just as Sherri cherished being a grandmother, David treasured being a grandfather and adored his grandsons, Colton and Everett.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sherri Guley Shoff; his mother, Celia Buckle Shoff; his father, Lyle Shoff; and his nephew, Scott Shoff.
David is survived by his two sons, Greg (Amy) Shoff and Todd (Candace) Shoff; his grandsons, Colton and Everett Shoff; and his brothers, Gary and Terry Shoff, along with their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory may be made to a local charity of your choice. Condolences may be shared with the family in his guestbook at www.WeldonFuneralHome.com.
