Charlene M. “Char” (Hill) (Snyder) Stanton, 82, of Dundee, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at the home of her son, Brian, and Rick.
A lifelong member of the Dundee community, Stanton graduated from Dundee Central School in 1961 and earned a degree in accounting from Elmira Business Institute at Elmira College in 1962.
She married Raymond R. Snyder in 1963, sharing 33 years together until his passing. In 1998, she married Kenneth M. Stanton, and they spent nearly 25 years together.
Stanton dedicated much of her life to service. She was a member of the Dundee Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for more than 55 years and served as its longtime president. She was also active with the Red Hat Society, Dundee United Methodist Church, the Dundee Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Yates County Office of the Aging, Eastern Star Rebeccas, and the Dundee Moonshiners. Her community involvement earned her recognition from the Dundee Rotary Club, which awarded her the Paul Harris Fellowship.
Family and faith were central to her life. She enjoyed helping others, spending time on the water, riding four-wheelers and snowmobiles, and sharing time with her closest friends. Her family also expressed special thanks to her caregiver, Michele Joiner, for her friendship and compassionate care over the past year.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Rick) Snyder; her late husband Ken’s children, Michael Stanton, Mindi Stanton, and Michelle Stanton; grandchildren Brandon (Tiffany) Snyder and Alyssa (Nathan) Howell; several great-grandchildren; Ken’s grandchildren Tessia (Scott), Kyla, Devante, Michael Jr. (Kat), Mathew, and Brianna, along with several great-grandchildren; her brother Steve (Darla) Hill; sister Carmella (Dave) Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Helen Hill; her first husband, Raymond Snyder; her second husband, Kenneth Stanton; her sister, Pam Hill; and grandsons Benjamin C. Snyder and Jordan Clark.
Calling hours were held on February 6 at Baird Funeral Home in Dundee. Funeral services took place on February 7 at Dundee United Methodist Church, with burial to be held later in Hillside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee United Methodist Church, Dundee Food Pantry, or the Dundee Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
