William Smith Cross Country Finishes 17th at NCAA Niagara Regional

The William Smith cross country team wrapped up its season this morning at the NCAA Division III Niagara Regional Championships, placing 17th out of 23 teams—an improvement of one spot from last year’s finish.

Senior Hope Johnson once again led the Herons, marking the eighth time this season she paced the squad. She completed the 6K course in 24:23.4, placing 76th in a field of 163 runners.

  • Megan Ingraham – 25:54.3 (106th)
  • Clare Horan – 26:47.5 (116th)
  • Joan Reichert – 26:59.1 (118th)

Team Standings

  • William Smith placed 17th, improving by one position from last season despite a deeper field.
  • The Herons finished 66 points behind 16th-place Penn State Behrend.
  • William Smith had a 32-point margin over 18th-place Buffalo State.

Head of the Pack

  • New York University claimed the team title, edging Geneseo by 12 points. NYU placed all five scoring runners inside the top 17.
  • Ann Brennan of Geneseo won the individual race with a time of 21:38.2.
