The William Smith bowling team enjoyed a 5-2 weekend of competition, finishing third in the Redhawks ROC City Classic on Saturday and splitting a pair of matches with D’Youville on Sunday.
Hosted by Roberts Wesleyan at Bowlero Empire in Webster, the Herons competed in five traditional matches during the ROC City Classic. William Smith opened the tournament with four straight wins before falling to Niagara in their finale.
The host Redhawks won the team title with a 4-0 record and 4,639 total pins. The Herons and Purple Eagles both finished 4-1, but Niagara had 4,438 pins to William Smith’s 4,345.
Three Herons finished in the tournament’s top 10. Senior Michaela Morgan led the way, placing eight with a 184.2 average. Brooke Gervais was right behind her in ninth place with a 183.6 average. Sophomore Colleen Jump rounded out the top 10, averaging 182.8.

SUNDAY SHOWDOWN
The Herons hosted the Saints on Sunday at Sunset Bowl. William Smith started the day with a 824-767 win over the Saints in a traditional match. The teams then played a best of 7 Baker match.
William Smith won the first two games, but D’Youville battled back to take the next two games. The Herons captured Game 5, 201-141, but the Saints rallied to win Game 6, 158-138. D’Youville kept its momentum in Game 7, prevailing 192-154, for a 4-3 victory.

- The Herons improved to 35-33 on the season.
