The Wildcats took the lead with a pair of goals in the opening five minutes. Keuka responded as Harrison Root opened the scoring for the Wolves, but SUNY Poly answered a minute later on the man-up. The Wolves cut the lead back to one as Aiden Nice (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) carried the ball around the goal. As he turned back in front of the goal, the sophomore let a jump shot go that found the back of the net to make it 3-2. Again, Poly had an answer, however, scoring two minutes later to lead 4-2 after one.
The late goal by SUNY Poly sparked a run for the visitors. The Wildcats scored the next four to build an 8-2 lead. Tre Lloyd (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) snapped the run with a goal, but SUNY Poly scored in the final seconds to lead 9-4 at the break.
The Wildcats had an answer every time Keuka looked to come back in the game. The teams traded goals early in the third quarter. But then Poly scored three straight to widen the lead. Root scored back-to-back goals for the Wolves, but SUNY Poly capped the scoring with 37 seconds left in the frame to lead 14-7.
SUNY Poly maintained that margin in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats matched Keuka’s four goals with four of their own as SUNY Poly defeated Keuka College 18-11
