Streaking Hobart Hockey Remain Ranked #1

SHARE NOW

The Hobart hockey team racked up two more victories adding to its record-breaking streaks so it comes as no surprise that the Statesmen remained atop the USCHO.com poll for the 23rd consecutive time. Hobart received all 20 first-place votes.

Last week, the Statesmen earned a pair of 4-1 New England Hockey Conference victories over Norwich. Junior Tanner Daniels (Edinboro, Pa.) enjoyed a four-point weekend. He notched a goal and an assist in Friday’s triumph over the Cadets and assisted twice in Saturday’s win. Daniels earned a spot on the NEHC Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts.

STREAK WATCH

  • The triumphs extended the program’s NCAA Division III record home-ice winning streak to 45 games, nine more than the previous mark.
  • Hobart also stretched its NCAA men’s hockey (all divisions) record unbeaten streak to 42 games (41-0-1).
  • Overall, the Statesmen have won 31 in a row, seven shy of the NCAA Division III record set by UMass Dartmouth (1985-1986).

Hobart is the only undefeated team in college hockey. The Statesmen will carry a 17-0-0 record into a weekend series at NEHC rival Albertus Magnus (10-6-1). The Falcons have won six of their past seven games, including a 2-1 triumph over Salve Regina on Sunday.

The series opener on Friday is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and will be the first-ever meeting between the teams. Hobart and Albertus Magnus will return to the ice on Saturday for a 4 p.m. showdown.

The Statesmen lead the NEHC with a 12-0-0 record and 36 points, 10 ahead of second-place Babson (8-6-0, 26 pts). The Falcons (7-4-1, 21 pts) are tied for fourth place with the Seahawks.
