First-year Evan Shannon led the Hobart cross country team to the finish line in the Statesmen’s season-opening race, the Rodenbeck Invitational hosted by St. John Fisher on Friday.
On the 6-kilometer course, Shannon turned in a time of 22:09.5, placing 73rd in a field of 124 runners. As a team, Hobart finished eighth out of nine teams.

Geneseo placed five runners in the top 10, including three in the top four, to secure the team title by 24 points over second-place RIT. The Tigers’ Derick Koen was the individual winner with a time of 19:34.2.
