The Keuka College Women’s Soccer team took an early lead but could not hold off Russell Sage, falling 2-1 in Empire 8 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Shayla Vetter (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) scored the lone goal for the Wolves, while Elianna Wilder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) tied her season-high 14 saves in net to keep Keuka within striking distance.

The Wolves opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Shayla Vetter capitalized on a defensive breakdown by Russell Sage, putting Keuka ahead 1-0 with a well-placed shot. The Wolves’ defense held strong throughout the first half, anchored by Wilder, who made several key saves to preserve the lead.
In the second half, Russell Sage applied pressure, earning a penalty kick in the 57th minute and scoring to tie the game 1-1. Just over a minute later the Gators scored again on a fastbreak. Keuka fought back with strong efforts from their defense, however, the Wolves were unable to find an equalizer. Russell Sage College won the conference game 2-1.
