The Keuka College Men’s Lacrosse team defeated Alfred State 12-7 on Tuesday afternoon in Alfred.
Harrison Root (Jefferson, N.J. / Jefferson Township) led Keuka College (2-2) with five goals. Kaleb Glessing (Ontario, N.Y. / Wayne) was right behind him with four in the win.

It was a defensive start to the game for both teams. The Wolves started to sustain some offense, and Harrison Root broke through with the first goal midway through the first. The Wolves got an extra-man opportunity minutes later thanks to a Pioneer offsides. While the Wolves did not score on the attempt, Keuka did have possession and Mitchell Wise (Greece, N.Y. / Hilton) found the back of the goal to make it 2-0. Minutes later, the Wolves capitalized on the transition. Daniel Rustay (Camillus, N.Y. / West Genesee) collected a ground ball. The Wolves had a successful clear and Rustay dished it off to Glessing for the goal. Alfred State got one back in the final minute, but Keuka led 3-1 after the first.
The Wolves made it 4-1 on Roots second with Aiden Nice (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) getting the assist. Carson Montoney (Seneca Falls, N.Y. / Mynderse Academy) won the ensuing faceoff and Kaleb Glessing scored 45 seconds later to make it 5-1 in favor of the Wolves. Ryan Bewlay (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport) added a goal with two minutes remaining as Keuka led 6-1 at the half.
Alfred State took the opening faceoff and scored to cut into the Keuka lead, but the Wolves responded minutes later as Ryan Bewlay set up Mitchell Wise for the goal. That sparked three goals in 1:37 for the Green and Gold as Glessing and Root followed with tallies. The Pioneers got one back, but Harrison Root scored the final two goals of the quarter to give the Wolves an 11-3 advantage going to the final frame.
The Pioneers struck with four straight goals in the final quarter to narrow the margin, but the contest was in hand. Kaleb Glessing capped it off with his fourth goal of the game as Keuka College defeated Alfred State 12-7.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves remain on the road this weekend with a test at Hilbert College. The Wolves have won four straight against the Hawks, including a 10-6 victory in Keuka Park last season.
