Cobleskill, NY: Senior Cara Walker (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) earned a prestigious spot on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week, as announced Tuesday morning.

Walker’s exceptional performances in two consecutive non-conference victories secured her place on the national roster, marking only the second time a Cobleskill women’s basketball player has received this honor.

The D3hoops.com Team of the Week recognizes top performers by position across all NCAA Division III schools. Head Coach Megan Bowman spoke highly of Walker’s impact:

“Cara missed a good portion of the early season, but her healthy return has had an immediate and profound impact on our team’s style and continued success. She’s a player who can influence the game in any category her team needs. This offseason, she added the final piece to her game, becoming a true three-level scorer and a dangerous threat from deep. While her scoring ability is undeniable, what’s impressed the coaching staff most is her passing—her timing, precision, and willingness to make the right play. Her heart and energy make her a true leader, and we’re incredibly grateful to see both her and Logan earn national recognition on the D3 Team of the Week this season”

Walker was instrumental in leading the Fighting Tigers to a 2-0 start to the new year with standout performances in victories over Western Connecticut, 78-61, and Tufts University, 60-58. Against WestConn, Walker came close to a triple-double, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and a steal while shooting 4-of-6 from the field, 1-of-2 from three, and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. She followed that effort with a game-high 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the win over Tufts, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from the line, including a clutch free throw to secure the victory.

For the week, Walker averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 64.7% from the field and 78.6% from the free-throw line.

This season, Walker is averaging 10.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 54.2% from the field, 41.7% from three, and 78.0% from the line.

Walker and the Fighting Tigers return to action on Tuesday, January 7, as they travel to UMaine-Farmington for a NAC showdown starting at 5:00 p.m.
