The Keuka College women’s soccer team earned its first result of the season Saturday, playing to a 1-1 draw against host Fredonia State in the Blue Devil Classic.
Junior Anna Leone (Brighton, N.Y. / Brighton) scored the Wolves’ first goal of the year in the 78th minute, while goalkeeper Elianna Wilder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) kept Keuka in the match with nine saves over 80 minutes of action.
Fredonia dominated possession early, outshooting Keuka 19-1 in the first half, but only four attempts were on frame, all turned away by Wilder. After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Wolves broke through late. Following a foul on Rilee Nunan (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg), Leone buried the ensuing free kick from 30 yards out, tucking it just under the crossbar for her first collegiate goal.
The Blue Devils responded quickly, equalizing five minutes later with a shot inside the right post to seal the 1-1 final.
Game Notes
- The draw snapped a four-game winning streak for Fredonia over Keuka.
- Leone’s strike marked her first career goal for the Wolves.
