Sophomore Lydia Lane of Buffalo scored her first collegiate goal Wednesday as the Keuka College women’s soccer team battled Hilbert to a 1-1 draw at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Lane put the Wolves ahead in the 58th minute, heading in a corner kick from senior Delaney Szostak of Marion, who earned her first career assist. Hilbert answered in the 78th minute, slipping a through ball past the Keuka back line to even the match.
Keuka nearly surrendered the lead minutes later when goalkeeper Payton Malec of Canandaigua went down injured. With the net open, Hilbert got a shot off, but defender Delaney Goodenow of Rochester tracked back to block it. Malec made three saves before leaving the game, while Elianna Wilder of Victor stopped the only shot she faced in relief.
The Wolves controlled much of the play, outshooting Hilbert 19-9 and holding an 11-2 advantage on corner kicks, but had to settle for their second straight draw.
Keuka, now 0-3-2, opens Empire 8 Conference play Saturday at home against Alfred University.
