The Finger Lakes Community College baseball wrapped up the regular season with a dominant doubleheader sweep of Jamestown Community College, notching 9-0 and 2-0 shutouts at home on Sunday afternoon.

In game one, Caleb Wilson (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas) was in command from the start, firing a complete-game 2-hit shutout with 6 strikeouts and no walks to earn his 6th win of the season.

The Lakers broke things open in the fourth with a 6-run frame. Christian Morrison (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) drew a bases-loaded walk to start the scoring. Then, Brody Froman (Irondequoit, N.Y./West Irondequoit) lined a 2-run single to right center to make it 4-0. Two batters later, Markus Brehm (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) delivered a 2-run single of his own, extending the lead to 6 before Trey Buchholz (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) drove in another on a groundout to cap the outburst.

Froman finished 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored, while Brehm went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a stolen base. Justin Angora (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and Morrison also picked up RBIs as the Lakers combined 8 hits with 8 walks to put the game out of reach.

Game two featured strong pitching once again. Nathan Power (Victor, N.Y./Victor) threw 4 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts and 2 hits allowed to pick up his 7th win. Aiden Reed (Shortsville, N.Y./Red Jacket) and Ian Goodness (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) closed it out, with Goodness earning his 2nd save of the year.

The Lakers scored in the third on an RBI double from Brennen Russo (East Irondequoit, N.Y./Eastridge), then tacked on a second run in the fifth when Jeffrey Broadnax (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk. Russo and Ryan Donovan (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) each reached base twice.

With the sweep, Finger Lakes improves to 34-16 and clinches the No. 2 seed in the NJCAA Region III West. The Lakers will host the No. 3 seed from the East in a best-of-three sub-regional series beginning Saturday, May 10 at home.
