Keuka College senior Daniel Rustay (Camillus, N.Y. / West Genesee) was named as Keuka College’s selection to the Empire 8 Conference Men’s Lacrosse Sportsman of the Year Team on Monday.
Rustay has been a team leader for the Wolves throughout his men’s lacrosse career. On the field, he led Keuka College with 69 ground balls. His average of 4.60 ground balls per game ranked sixth in the Empire 8 Conference. It also ranked as the eighth-most in a season in program history. His career total of 149 ground balls tied for tenth on the career list.
Rustay was also a leader in the classroom. An Adolescent Social Studies/Special Education major, Rustay has been named to the Empire 8 President’s List multiple times as well as being named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators.
Rustay was one of 10 from the conference honored. From the conference’s release, “The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that ‘Competing with Honor and Integrity’ is an essential component of a student-athlete’s experience in conjunction with an institution’s educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.”
