Keuka College first-year pitcher Luis Rivera is being recognized for a strong start to his collegiate career.
Rivera was named Empire 8 Conference Baseball Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday after pitching a complete game in the Wolves’ win over UMaine-Presque Isle. He allowed just four hits and two unearned runs while striking out four.
So far this season, Rivera has thrown 11 innings, giving up just seven hits and no earned runs. He has recorded four strikeouts in each of his appearances.
Meanwhile, the Wolves are already dealing with weather-related schedule changes. Their game at Fredonia on Tuesday has been canceled, and their scheduled home opener on Wednesday against the University of Rochester has been moved to a road game.
