Keuka’s Lovelace Named National Player of the Week

SHARE NOW

After a standout weekend, Keuka College men’s basketball senior Lamar Lovelace of Rochester, a graduate of Northeast College Prep, has been named the United States Basketball Writers Association Division III National Player of the Week.

Lovelace set a Keuka College single-game record with 41 points in the Wolves’ 105–100 victory over Russell Sage. He followed that performance with a team-high 21 points and recorded the first double-double of his career in a win over Hartwick College on Saturday.

It is the first time in program history that a Keuka College basketball player has received the national honor, and Lovelace is the first Empire 8 athlete to earn the recognition since the 2016–17 season.

The USBWA selects men’s and women’s Division III National Players of the Week each Tuesday. This marks the 11th season the association has recognized national players of the week at the Division III level.

The United States Basketball Writers Association was formed in 1956 at the urging of then–NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. With approximately 900 members worldwide, it is one of the most influential organizations in college basketball and has selected an All-America team each season since 1956–57.
