The Keuka Women’s Soccer team put up a strong fight but fell 2-1 to Houghton. The Wolves were led by Peyton Miller who scored Keuka’s lone goal late in the second half and had three additional shots on goal.
Houghton took control early in the game, breaking through the defense to go up 1-0. Keuka’s defense and goalkeeper Elianna Wilder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) worked hard to keep the game close, making several key saves to prevent further damage. Wilder finished the game with seven saves, many of which came in high-pressure moments.
Keuka started the second half looking for the equalizer, but Houghton extended their lead just 11 seconds after the restart, making it 2-0. Despite the setback, the Wolves continued to press. Sam Bates (Holley, N.Y. / Holley) and Miller were active on the attack, each forcing saves from the opposing goalkeeper. In the 89th minute, Miller found the back of the net for Keuka College, but time ran out before they could complete the comeback. The Highlanders won the game 2-1.
