The Keuka College women’s soccer team hosted Hartwick College Saturday in an Empire 8 matchup, coming up short in a 2-1 loss.
Sophomore Ava Watt (Brockport, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season on her first shot attempt, giving the Wolves an early second-half lead off an assist from Rilee Nunan (Buffalo, N.Y./Hamburg). Hartwick quickly answered with a goal in the 65th minute and secured the win with a late goal in the final two minutes of play.
The match was competitive throughout, with both teams trading early shots. Keuka nearly regained the lead in the 71st minute on a corner that was tipped toward goal but deflected away.
Notes:
- Keuka is now 1-7-4 all-time against Hartwick.
- Nunan recorded her first assist of the season and second of her career.
- Delaney Szostak (Marion, N.Y.) played in her 50th career game.
The Wolves will travel to Houghton on Wednesday, October 8, at 7 p.m. for their next match.
