The Keuka College Women’s Basketball team lost on Friday night at Houghton University 79-33 in an Empire 8 Conference game.
Keuka College (5-6, 0-2 Empire 8) was led by Sophia Babcock (Oswego, N.Y. / Oswego) and Lillian Mullen (Canisteo, N.Y. / Canisteo-Greenwood), each with nine points.
The Highlanders jumped out to a 12-1 lead over the Wolves, but Keuka College responded. A three by Lillian Mullen started a run for the Wolves. Sydney Brown (Lowville, N.Y. / Lowville Academy) added a three as Keuka scored nine of the next 10 points to cut the Houghton lead to three, 13-10, after the first quarter.
However, the middle two quarters were the undoing for Keuka. The Wolves were outscored 23-3 in the second quarter and 25-9 in the third as Houghton pulled away.
Keuka College continued to fight in the fourth quarter, but the game was in hand as Houghton defeated Keuka 79-33.
