The Keuka College Women’s Basketball team defeated the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford 63-57 on Wednesday evening.
Mary Cotter (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) and Janea Hamilton-Brown (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) led the way with 12 points each, with Caiden Crego (Lyons, N.Y. / Lyons) right behind with 11 points.
The Wolves started strong with a balanced attack, led by Mary Cotter who drained two early threes to set the tone. Brooke Burd (Canisteo, N.Y. / Canisteo-Greenwood) was instrumental on the boards, recording multiple offensive rebounds to give Keuka second-chance opportunities. With Cotter’s sharp shooting and Janea Hamilton-Brown adding timely jump shots, Keuka closed the quarter ahead, 14-10.
Keuka continued their offensive rhythm into the second quarter, with contributions from Caiden Crego to help the Wolves expand their lead. Cotter maintained her hot hand from beyond the arc, while Burd and Ellen Lavonas (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) asserted their presence inside, grabbing six rebounds in the quarter. Despite Pitt-Bradford’s rally, Keuka entered halftime up 30-25.
Pitt-Bradford came out with a surge in the third, matching Keuka basket for basket. The Wolves offense was guided by Cotter and Hamilton-Brown, whose aggressive drives kept the score close. Burd’s rebounding prowess and the team’s defense kept the Wolves within striking distance as the quarter ended with Pitt-Bradford cutting Keuka’s lead to 42-40.
Keuka’s defense excelled in the final quarter, with Burd and Hamilton-Brown providing key stops and timely rebounds. The Wolves hit crucial free throws to keep Pitt-Bradford at bay. With under a minute remaining, Crego converted two free throws, sealing the game for Keuka with a 63-57 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will remain on the road as they compete in a tournament over the weekend at Keystone College. The Wolves will take on Keystone on Friday, November 15 to start the tournament.
