Keuka Women Drop Empire 8 Matchup With Brockport

The Keuka College women’s basketball team fell at home to SUNY Brockport, 75-53, in an Empire 8 Conference matchup on Tuesday.

Keuka College (6-6, 1-3 Empire 8) was led offensively by Lillian Mullen (Canisteo, N.Y. / Canisteo-Greenwood), who scored 11 points. Defensively, Emilee Bacon (Buffalo, N.Y. / Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) pulled down a game-high 19 rebounds, while Brooke Burd (Canisteo, N.Y. / Canisteo-Greenwood) added 11 boards.

SUNY Brockport opened the game with a 12-0 run. Mary Cotter (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) scored Keuka’s first basket with a jumper midway through the opening quarter. The Golden Eagles led 19-8 at the end of the first period.

Keuka responded with a quick 7-0 run in the second quarter. Cotter knocked down a three-pointer, followed by baskets from Lillian Mullen and Rylee Cuozzo (York, N.Y. / York), cutting the deficit to 22-16. Brockport rebuilt its double-digit advantage, but the Wolves stayed within reach. Emiley Anderson (Gerry, N.Y. / Cassadaga Valley) hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to make it a 35-27 game at halftime.

After Keuka won the second quarter 19-16, Brockport responded with a dominant third quarter. The Golden Eagles outscored the Wolves 24-7 in the frame to extend their lead to 59-34 heading into the fourth.

Janea Hamilton-Brown (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to spark a 10-0 run for Keuka. The Wolves won the final quarter 19-16, but the earlier deficit proved too much as SUNY Brockport secured the 75-53 victory.

  • The Wolves now stand at 6-9 all-time against SUNY Brockport.
  • Emilee Bacon recorded a career-high 19 rebounds.
  • Mary Cotter made two three-pointers, raising her career total to 138 and moving her past Lauren Anten ’19 for fifth all-time.
  • Cotter and first-year guard Emiley Anderson each finished with 10 points.

The Wolves head into their first Empire 8 road weekend of the season, traveling to St. John Fisher University on Friday night before visiting Nazareth University on Saturday to face the Golden Flyers.
