The Keuka College Softball team was swept in an Empire 8 Conference doubleheader against SUNY Poly on Friday at Hamilton College.
Keuka College (2-15, 0-4 Empire 8) lost the opener 8-3 and then fell in the nightcap 5-3.
SUNY Poly 8 vs. Keuka College 3 – Game 1
The Wildcats took the lead in the first and then added to their lead in the third to build a 2-0 advantage.
Kaylin Ritenour (Madison, Pa. / Yough) led off the inning with a single. Giana Mruczek (Batavia, N.Y. / Batavia) later worked a walk and both would score on a two-out triple by Grace Eagen (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West) to tie the game. Paige Granger (Camden, N.Y. / Camden) followed with a single to score Eagen and give the Wolves a 3-2 lead.
That lead held until the sixth inning. SUNY Poly scored six in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead. The Wildcats retired the Wolves in order in the top of the seventh to defeat Keuka College 8-3.
SUNY Poly 5 vs. Keuka College 3 – Game 2
The Wolves looked to take the early lead in game two. Keuka College loaded the bases in the top of the first, but a strikeout left them loaded.
The game progressed into a pitcher’s duel until the bottom of the fourth inning when SUNY Poly turned three hits and a Keuka College error into three runs for the lead.
Keuka College quickly struck back as Kaylin Ritenour led off the fifth with a triple. Hailey Jasinski (Buffalo, N.Y. / North Collins) followed with a double to score Ritenour, making it 3-1. However, SUNY Poly would limit the damage, stranding Jasinski on second.
The Wildcats scored a pair in the bottom of the inning to grow their lead to 5-1. Ritenour and Jasinski teamed up again for the Wolves as Ritenour singled and Hailey Jasinski followed with a double to score her, making it 5-2. Jasinski would score on an error, but a pair of groundouts ended the game with SUNY Poly earning the 5-3 victory.

- The sweep snapped a 12-game winning streak by the Wolves over the Wildcats. Keuka College remains ahead in the all-time series 41-9
- 50 meetings between the Wolves and the Wildcats is the third-most played series in program history behind Cazenovia College (64) and St. John Fisher University (55)
- Six different Wolves recorded a hit in game one. Amongst them, Katie Landers (Batavia, N.Y. / Batavia Notre Dame) and Alexis Kopetchny (Phelps, N.Y. / Midlakes) recorded their first collegiate hits
- Kaylin Ritenour and Hailey Jasinski each had three hits for the Wolves in game two
- The duo of Landers and Kopetchny each added a hit in the night cap as well
