The Keuka College Men’s Soccer team fell 1-0 to Nazareth College on Saturday in a tightly contested Empire 8 Conference match.
Cory Cangemi (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) recorded seven saves in goal for Keuka College.
Both teams remained scoreless through the first half, with Keuka College’s defense and goalkeeper Cory Cangemi holding strong against numerous attacks. Nazareth outshot Keuka 11-2 in the first half, but Cangemi came up with several key saves to keep the game level.
The second half saw more pressure from Nazareth, and they eventually broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute, scoring off a well-worked play to take the lead. Keuka College pushed for an equalizer, earning a couple of corner kicks and coming close to finding the net. However, Nazareth’s defense held firm, securing the 1-0 victory.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves return to action on Wednesday, October 2, as they host SUNY Geneseo in a pivotal Empire 8 matchup at 7 p.m. This will mark the first meeting between the two schools since Geneseo joined the Empire 8 conference.
