The Keuka College Men’s Basketball team lost at home to Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse 86-65 at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Saturday afternoon.
Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) led Keuka College (2-5) with 13 points. Akinlana Popoola (Cleveland, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) had 11, and Jaden Keasey (Newport News, Va. / Menchville) posted 10 points and a team-high six rebounds in the loss.
The two teams traded baskets early in the first half. Ty LaBarge (Cobleskill, N.Y. / Cobleskill-Richmondville) found Akinlana Popoola for a layup as the Wolves took an 8-6 lead. Popoola then forced a steal and found Jayden Keasey for a layup. Popoola stayed hot and hit a three on the next possession for the Wolves. The Bobcats cut into Keuka’s lead and overtook the Wolves midway through the half. The Green and Gold rallied as a three-point play by Akinlana Popoola gave the Wolves a one-point lead. However, the Bobcats outscored the Wolves 11-6 over the final five minutes to lead 34-30 at the half.
Keuka came out of the break fast and battled with the Bobcats, tying the game multiple times. Bryant & Stratton responded with eight points in a minute to extend their lead to double digits. Tehan responded with a layup, but the eight-point margin was as close as Keuka could make it. The Bobcats used an 18-0 run over five minutes to put the game away. Bryant & Stratton saw the game out for the 86-65 victory.
