The Keuka College Men’s Basketball team lost at home at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center to SUNY Brockport 77-63 in an Empire 8 Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
Marcus Reed (Queens, N.Y. / Our Saviour Lutheran) was one rebound off a double-double with 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds for Keuka College (5-9, 2-4 Empire 8). Akinlana Popoola (Cleveland, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) led the Wolves with 18 points in the loss.
The lead traded hands multiple times in the opening minutes of a fast-paced defensive game. A 7-0 run for Brockport gave them the lead and an 11-5 advantage. Amar Jackson (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Frederick Douglas Academy) stopped the run with a drive, but the Golden Eagles remained in control. Tyler Green (Sackets Harbor, N.Y. / Sackets Harbor) hit a three for Keuka midway through the frame, but the Wolves would go the next nine minutes without a field goal. During that time, SUNY Brockport built a 30-11 lead. Green hit a three in the final minute for the Wolves, but the visitors took a 32-16 lead into the halftime break.
Offenses picked up for both teams in the second half, however, the Wolves would only be able to narrow the margin to 14. The Golden Eagles would extend their lead to 20 points at 47-27. The visitors led by as many as 29 in the second half. The Wolves cut into the lead late as Marcus Reed and Akinlana Popoola hit back-to-back threes. Reed followed with another there as the Wolves scored nine unanswered, their largest run of the game. Back-to-back threes by Kobe Scriver (Hooper, Utah / Roy) closed the game for the Wolves, but the Golden Eagles had the game in control, defeating Keuka College 77-63.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves are back on the floor next week with a pair of road games within the conference. Keuka College will travel to St. John Fisher University next Friday night and then play at Nazareth University on Saturday.
