The Keuka College Men’s Basketball team competed against Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon in their final game of the Hobart College Tournament. The Wolves mounted a late comeback but ultimately fell 85-73 in the non-conference matchup.

Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) led Keuka College, scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Akinlana Popoola (Cleveland, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) contributed 21 points and five assists, while Marcus Reed (Buffalo, N.Y. / The Park School) added 10 points off the bench.

The Bengals found the lead early with a 20-6 score, after a 12-2 run in the opening five minutes, with the help of five first-half three-pointers. After finding themselves down by as much as 21 points in the first half Keuka used the strong offensive efforts by Popoola and Tehan, and the Wolves cut the lead and trailed 56-42 at the break.

Keuka found their offensive rhythm to start the second half, with the Green and Gold going on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 58 each. Will Tehan hit a shot from behind the arc to tie the game and give the Wolves some life. The Wolves rallied behind Popoola’s sharp shooting and Tehan’s presence in the paint, cutting the deficit to single digits on multiple occasions. However, Buffalo State’s bench played a pivotal role, adding 35 points, and their strong free-throw shooting helped secure the victory. The Wolves showed resilience but were unable to close the gap, losing the game 85-73.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will travel to SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday, November 26 for a non-conference game. The game will be the last for the Wolves before heading into the holiday break.
