Keuka College Field Hockey lost 6-0 in a nonconference matchup against Lycoming College on Saturday afternoon.
The two defenses battled it out to start the game, not allowing a shot for the first seven and a half minutes of play. However, the Warriors broke the streak with a goal. Lycoming held the lead to take the game into the second quarter up 1-0.
The Keuka offense came alive in the second quarter. Just under two minutes into the frame, Cassidy Scheftic (East Syracuse, N.Y. / East Syracuse-Minoa) had a penalty corner opportunity, resulting in a shot from Tori Nelson (Vernon Center, N.Y. / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) that Lycoming ultimately saved. With a minute left to play, Scheftic had a second penalty corner opportunity, but the Wolves were unable to capitalize and the game went into the break with Lycoming up 1-0.
Lycoming College found their offensive stride in the second half of the game, scoring five goals across the remaining two quarters. The Warriors would win the game 6-0.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold have a week off before playing another home game on Saturday, September 14. It will be the first conference matchup of the season for the Wolves against the Russell Sage College Gators.
