The Keuka College women’s volleyball team was swept by St. John Fisher University on Friday night at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center, falling 3-0 in Empire 8 play (25-18, 25-17, 25-14).
Nina Scott (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) led the Wolves with 10 kills, while first-year Alessandra Castañeda (San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall) recorded 10 digs and added six kills. Phoebe Swartz (Candor, N.Y./Candor) and Rosslan Force (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) combined for key blocks, with Force totaling three, including one solo. Libero Gabby Rodriguez (Floresville, Texas/Floresville) and Lilly Devine (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor) each contributed nine digs, helping Keuka finish with 46 digs, more than St. John Fisher. Swartz also recorded 10 assists, surpassing 200 for the season.
The first set was competitive early, with Keuka rallying to within two points at 16-14, but St. John Fisher pulled away to win 25-18. Keuka briefly tied the second set at 13-13 before the Cardinals scored 10 of the next 12 to take the set 25-17. In the third, the Wolves tied early at 4-4, but St. John Fisher went on a run to close out the set 25-14 and sweep the match.
