Keuka College Women’s Volleyball closed out the Hamilton College Invitational with one win and one loss on Saturday. The Wolves lost 3-0 to Hamilton College but bounced back for their own 3-0 sweep against St. Lawrence University.
Outside hitter Dayna Edholm (Buffalo, N.Y. / Sweet Home) led the way for the Wolves on Saturday combining for 22 kills and six aces from the service line across the two games. Also contributing to the offensive success was right-side hitter Nina Scott (Honeoye Falls, N.Y. / Honeoye Falls-Lima), with a total of 13 kills.

Hamilton College took control early in the first set, jumping out to a quick 5-1 lead. Keuka struggled to find their footing, while Hamilton extended their lead to 9-3. The Wolves managed to close the gap slightly with Edholm leading the way, but Hamilton’s defense and aggressive play at the net kept them in control. The Wolves couldn’t overcome the deficit, and Hamilton finished the set, winning 25-13.
The second set started more competitively, with both teams exchanging points early. Keuka kept it close early on, but Hamilton capitalized on attack errors from the Wolves to pull ahead. Keuka fought to stay in it, with offensive contributions from Edholm and Nina Scott, but Hamilton maintained their lead. Late in the set, Hamilton pulled away, closing the frame at 25-17.
In the third set, Keuka found themselves trailing early, as Hamilton opened up a 3-0 lead due to Keuka’s attack errors. Despite the Wolves’ efforts to get back in it with kills by Gabby Fenton (Buckeye, Ariz. / The Odyssey Institute of Advanced and International Studies) and Edholm, Hamilton extended their lead to 9-3. Keuka’s late efforts were not enough to close the gap, as Hamilton closed out the set 25-20 and won the match 3-0.

In the opening set Keuka gained momentum with a service ace from Casey Hunziker (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy), giving the Wolves a small lead. Kills from Nina Scott and Gabby Fenton helped Keuka extend their lead to 8-6. The Wolves pulled ahead 15-12, forcing errors from St. Lawrence. Despite a brief tie at 15-15, Keuka found their offensive stride again late in the set, with back-to-back service aces from Summer Elza and kills from Edholm. Keuka closed out the set 25-18 with a service ace from Edholm.
Keuka carried their momentum into the second set, quickly building a 3-0 lead with kills from Fenton and Bryn Straub (Irondequoit, N.Y. / Irondequoit). The Wolves continued to serve well, with Gabby Rodriguez (Floresville, Texas / Floresville) delivering aces to push the score to 8-3. Despite a few late errors, Keuka held firm, winning the second set 25-19 and taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the final set, Keuka once again jumped out to an early lead, led by Edholm at the service line. The Wolves extended their advantage to 7-3 with kills from Edholm and Lilah Cousins (Denver, Colo. / Westminster). St. Lawrence attempted to close the gap, but the Wolves held on. Keuka continued to capitalize on St. Lawrence’s errors, extending their lead to 21-9. With contributions from across the roster, Keuka finished the set 25-19, completing the sweep and winning the match 3-0.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will travel to Cobleskill, NY for a tri-match with SUNY Cobleskill and Skidmore College. The games are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 21.
