Keuka Soccer Teams Achieve Classroom Success

The Keuka College Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams continued to showcase a strong academic tradition by having six members from each team named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.

The Keuka College Men’s Soccer team had six student-athletes honored. The Wolves accounted for 25% of the selections from the Empire 8 Conference and Keuka repeated as having the most honorees in the league. Named Academic All-District for men’s soccer was:

·       Liam Davis (Wilmington, N.C. / New Hanover)

·       Nico Leone (Brighton, N.Y. / Brighton)

·       Evan Pellerito (Endwell, N.Y. / Maine-Endwell)

·       Anthony Pontello (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee)

·       Nate Ryck (Waverly, N.Y. / Waverly)

·       Owen Thorpe (Horseheads, N.Y. / Horseheads)

It was the second career selection for Nico Leone, Evan Pellerito, and Owen Thorpe.

The Keuka College Women’s Soccer team also had a strong showing, posing six on the Academic All-District list for the second consecutive season. Keuka College was one of five schools in the Empire 8 Conference to have six selections. Honored from the Wolves were:

  • Teagan Carter (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport)
  • Courtney Mazeau (Greece, N.Y. / Greece Athena)
  • Peyton Miller (Mercer, Pa. / Mercer)
  • Peyton Steates (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Whitesboro)
  • Shayla Vetter (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton)
  • Chaise Willis (Greece, N.Y. / Greece Athena)

Peyton Steates was the lone repeat honoree on the women’s side.

To be eligible for Academic All-District, the student-athlete must have at least a sophomore standing and carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 while playing at least 90% of the team’s games.
