Spring break was a big week for the Keuka College lacrosse goalies as Jaxson Tucker (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) and Lauren Vitello (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) were named Empire 8 Goalies of the Week.
Tucker earned his second Empire 8 honor of the season, leading the Wolves to a 2-0 week. The first-year goalie made 19 saves over the two games while allowing just four goals. The week started with making nine saves and allowing just three goals over three quarters in Keuka’s victory at Alfred State. Tucker then allowed only a man-up goal and made 10 stops against Hilbert College on Saturday.
For the season, Tucker has made 52 saves through five games. He has a .598 save percentage and an 8.24 goals-against average on the season, ranking second in the Empire 8 in both categories. His goals-against average also ranks 25th in all of NCAA Division III.
Lauren Vitello was in goal for the Wolves as Keuka College posted its sixth shutout in program history with a win over Elmira College. The sophomore made seven saves in the win to keep the Soaring Eagles off the board.
On the season, she ranks second in the Empire 8 with a 6.50 goals-against average and leads the Conference with a .618 save percentage. Vitello’s save percentage ranks fourth in Division III to date this season.
Both Tucker and Vitello will be in action this Wednesday as Keuka College hosts a lacrosse doubleheader at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. Vitello and the Women’s team will open the evening with a 4 p.m. game against Alfred State College. Tucker and the Men’s team will then host Oswego State at 7 p.m.
