Keuka College first-year forward Sam Bates (Holley, N.Y. / Holley) was named Empire 8 Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Bates scored her first collegiate goals on Saturday as Keuka College earned a 3-3 draw with SUNY Poly. She scored her first goal from a shot from the top of the box in the 52nd minute hit the top of the crossbar and we down into the goal to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead. She then got her second two minutes and forty-four seconds after that. On a corner kick the ball bounced in the box and found Bates on the back post to hit it for the Wolves.
Saturday was the best game of the season for the first year. She tied her season-high with eight shots and set a new season best with five shots on goal while playing all 90 minutes.
The Wolves remain at home with a pair of games this week. Keuka College will host Elmira College on Wednesday and Russell Sage College on Saturday.
