The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost on Saturday to Wittenberg University 3-0 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex to open the 2024 season.
Jordan Nichols (Deposit, N.Y. / Afton) made 10 saves in goal for Keuka College (0-1).
The Tigers controlled play early in the game, but Keuka’s defense stood tall. Jordan Nichols made a pair of saves in the opening 15 minutes to keep the game scoreless after one. The Wolves got a chance with a corner in the opening minutes of the frame but were unable to capitalize. Wittenberg broke the scoreless game in the second with a goal and added a second midway through the frame. The visitors led 2-0 at the half.
The Green and Gold earned two more corners in the third quarter but again were not able to find the back of the goal. Nichols had two more saves, but Wittenberg was able to add to their lead, making it 3-0.
Keuka College was able to increase the offensive pressure in the final quarter. The Wolves held the advantage in corners 4-3 over the final 15 minutes and generated a pair of shots. However, Keuka was not able to break through as the Wolves fell 3-0 on Saturday.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will play their first road game of the year on Wednesday as Keuka College will travel to SUNY Oneonta to face the Red Dragons.
