The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost on the road on Thursday at D’Youville University 9-1.
Kirstin Billings (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) scored her fifth goal of the year for Keuka College (1-10, 1-3 Empire 8).
The Saints jumped on the board right away as they got a corner 24 seconds in and scored the first goal of the game 11 seconds later. They made it 2-0 minutes later and could have been worse, but Anna Dewey (Sidney, N.Y. / Sidney) cleared the ball off the line for a defensive save. D’Youville made it 3-0 with five minutes left in the quarter. The Wolves threatened late with a pair of shots off of a corner in the final minute but were unable to convert.
D’Youville added to their lead with three goals in the second. The hosts led 6-0 at the half.
The Wolves opened the third with three straight corners but were unable to score. The pressure continued for Keuka with another corner attempt midway through the quarter. However, the field flipped and D’Youville added to their lead with a pair of goals. Keuka College got on the board as Kirstin Billings scored with 34 seconds left in the frame, but D’Youville carried an 8-1 advantage into the final quarter.
Keuka College had a 4-1 advantage in penalty corners in the fourth quarter, but it was D’Youville who scored a goal as the Saints defeated the Wolves 9-1 on Thursday.

- Thursday was the first-ever meeting between Keuka College and D’Youville University in field hockey. It was also the first time that Keuka played up in a division, facing the NCAA Division II Saints
- The Wolves were close on penalty corners with D’Youville holding a slight 11-9 edge
- Nijeylie Torres (East Irondequoit, N.Y. / Eastridge) and Khadeeja Reed (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) split time in goal, each recording a pair of saves
- With the goal, Kirstin Billings becomes the fourth player in Keuka College Field Hockey history to amass 50 points in a career
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have another tough test in front of them this weekend. Keuka College will host SUNY Geneseo on Saturday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. The Knights will enter the game ranked 19th in the latest NFHCA Division III Poll.
