The Keuka College Baseball team lost an Empire 8 Conference game at Houghton University 12-7 on Friday.
Carlos Fantauzzi (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs for Keuka College (9-14, 3-9 Empire 8). Kyle Wood (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) added a solo home run for the Wolves.

Houghton University, playing as the visiting team on their field, scored seven in the top of the second for the early lead. The Wolves responded in the bottom of the third. Keuka College opened the inning with two hits and a walk to load the bases. One run came home on a fielder’s choice, and another scored on an RBI single by Carlos Fantauzzi. Tyler Lewandowski (Milltown, N.J. / Spotswood) added another run with an RBI single for the Wolves. Ethan Drinon (Middleburgh, N.Y. / Schoharie) scored two with a double to close the scoring for Keuka in the third.
The teams traded runs in the fourth as Houghton scored, but Keuka responded with a solo home run by Kyle Wood to make it 8-6.
Carlos Fantauzzi led off the fifth with a double and scored on a groundout to cut the margin to one. However, Houghton added a pair of runs in the sixth to push the lead back out to three. The Highlanders added insurance runs in the seventh and ninth as they defeated the Wolves 12-7.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves and the Highlanders will continue their Empire 8 Conference series on Saturday. Keuka College will face Houghton in a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch of game one is set for 11 a.m.
