The Hobart lacrosse team wiped out a three-goal, fourth-quarter deficit to beat Bucknell 13-12 on Stiles Field in the Poole Family Dome this afternoon. Junior midfielder Cade Dino capped the game-winning run with the go-ahead goal with 2:30 remaining in the game.
Dino finished with a career-high four points on three goals and an assist. First-year attackman Daniel Cano also had four points on two goals and two assists. Senior attackman Will Delano and junior midfielder David Peterkin each had two goals and an assist.
Bucknell got a game-high four goals from attackman Connor Davis and a game-high five assists from attackman Michael Meyer. Midfielder Sean Berrigan added two goals and two assists.
FACE FACTS
- In a game with most of the stats virtually even, Hobart dominated the faceoff X, winning 21 of the game’s 28 faceoffs.
- Sophomore Mike Valent went 12-of-17 for the Statesmen, grabbing a game-high six ground balls.
- Junior Seamus Schofield was 5-of-7 and graduate student Cole Emmanuel was 4-for-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Alex Rosa scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season off an assist from Dino less than a minute into the game. It was Hobart’s only lead until Dino’s game winner in the fourth quarter.
- Bucknell scored the next four goals to build the first of three three-goal leads for the Bison.
- Cano ended the run with a buzzer-beater goal just before the end of the first quarter.
- Valent won the faceoff to start the second quarter and was left unmarked. He took advantage of the defensive lapse and went straight to the cage for his second goal of the season.
- Five minutes later, Peterkin tied the game at four.
- Bucknell reclaimed the lead with back-to-back goals, but Dino scored twice in the final 68 seconds of the half to tie the game.
- The Bison doubled up the Hobart scoring in the third quarter for a 10-8 lead.
- Peterkin opened the fourth quarter scoring, but Bucknell countered with tallies by Will Hopkins and Davis. Davis’ goal was his team-leading 21st of the season and put the visitors up 12-9 with just over 10 minutes left.
- The fourth quarter comeback started when Cano and Delano scored consecutive goals just 12 seconds apart, cutting the Bison lead to one.
- Just over a minute later, Cano set up junior Alex Begina’s first collegiate goal, tying the game with about 6 minutes remaining.
- Dino’s game-winner was backed up by a pair of saves by Faiola in the final minute, preserving the victory.

- Hobart will wrap up its four-game, season-opening homestand on Tuesday, Feb. 25, welcoming No. 3 Cornell to Geneva. The opening faceoff is set for 5 p.m.
