The coaches of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference have picked William Smith as the preseason favorite to win the conference and selected Heron senior Michaela Morgan (Oak Ridge/The Woodlands, Texas) as the Preseason Bowler of the Year, the AMCC office announced today.
William Smith is entering its third varsity season. Last year, Head Coach Heather Sterner guided the Herons to a 50-23 overall record, a 46-win improvement over the program’s inaugural season. William Smith tied for the AMCC regular season championship with Saint Vincent and then won the AMCC Tournament Championship, securing an automatic bid to the NCAA National Collegiate Bowling Championship.
Morgan is the reigning AMCC Bowler of the Year. She paced Division III in strike percentage (45.8%) and recorded a team-high 408 strikes. Morgan finished 13th in the nation in individual split leave percentage (6.9) and eighth in Baker format split leave percentage (6.7).
