Herons Finish 2nd at AMCC Championship

The William Smith bowling team was the runner up in the 2025 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship this weekend. The second seeded Herons went 2-2 in the double elimination tournament, defeating Pitt-Bradford and Hilbert while suffering both of its losses to top-seeded Saint Vincent.

Senior Michaela Morgan and first-year Brooke Gervais represented William Smith on the AMCC All-Tournament Team. Morgan averaged 196.75 in four traditional games, while Gervais averaged 196.5.

William Smith opened the tournament with a 2-0 mega match win over the Panthers on Friday.

The Herons began play on Saturday with their first showdown with the Bearcats. SVC won the traditional match 992-854. Brooke Gervais led William Smith with a 197 game. In the Baker match, Saint Vincent prevailed 974-879 to complete the 2-0 win.

On Saturday afternoon, the Herons faced sixth-seeded Hilbert in an elimination match. The Hawks won the traditional match 911-885. Senior Michaela Morgan had the high-game for William Smith, posting a 227. The Herons rallied to take the Baker match 974-748 to send the mega match to a best of 7 Baker match. William Smith trailed Hilbert three games to two, but won Game 6 181-161 and Game 7 200-157. The 2-1 victory set up a rematch with Saint Vincent for the AMCC title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

On Sunday morning, the Herons got off to a good start, taking the traditional match 985-908. Both Morgan and Gervais logged 200 games. Morgan bowled a 212 while Gervais notched a 202. The Bearcats eked out a 917-913 win in the Baker match. SVC won the best of seven, 4-0.

William Smith finished its third varsity season with a 40-44 record.
