The William Smith cross country team competed in the Kara Hall Memorial Invitational on Saturday morning. The Herons placed eighth out of 13 teams on the 6-kilometer course.
Junior Hope Johnson led William Smith finishing 26th overall in a field of 140 runners. She posted a time of 24:27.8.
Included in the top five Herons’ times was a career-best by senior Rebecca Barr and a pair of season’s bests by sophomore Salma Menkari and first-year Bella Miller. Barr improved her previous career-best time by 18.7 seconds. Menkari improved 14.9 seconds and Miller made a big leap, cutting 50.8 seconds off her previous best 6K.

TEAM STANDINGS
- Rochester won the invitational by nine points over runner-up Ithaca.
- RIT finished third led by individual winner Sierra Danieu (22:20.4).
UP NEXT
- William Smith will return to racing Saturday, Oct. 19, when the Herons host the Cross Country Only Conference Championships at Seneca Lake State Park.
