The Finger Lakes Community College men’s basketball team picked up a thrilling 101-93 win over St. John Fisher University JV Tuesday evening, highlighted by standout performances from newcomers Anthony Torres (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) and Brian Whitley (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva). The duo, former high school teammates from Geneva, made an immediate impact in their Lakers debuts, combining for 54 points and leading the Lakers to their second-highest-scoring game of the season.

Anthony Torres was electric in his first game, recording a triple-double with 40 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists while shooting 50% from the field. Joining Torres, Brian Whitley added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, dominating the glass and providing a consistent inside presence.

Bruce Wilder Jr. (Rochester, N.Y./Fairport) contributed 18 points, including a near-perfect 8-9 from the free-throw line, while Kellen Foster (Newark, N.Y./Newark) chipped in with 15 points and 3 rebounds. The Lakers shot 48.1% from the field and hit 75% of their free throws; a significant improvement from their season average.

Defensively, the Lakers held off a late surge from St. John Fisher, with strong rebounding and ball control down the stretch to seal the win. The team will look to build on this momentum as they head into a 5-game home stretch starting this Saturday, January 11th at 2 PM against Genesee Community College.
