Cayuga Community College earned another conference and regional win on Wednesday with a home victory over Genesee Community College.

The Spartans made it four consecutive wins with a 1-0 triumph over the Cougars behind a second-half goal and another strong performance from keeper Matthew Chitty. Cayuga is now 4-1 on the season.

The teams played to a scoreless tie at halftime. Early in the second frame, Matthew Twigg capitalized on excellent passes from Owen Steedman and Scott Gammons to score the deciding goal. Cayuga’s defense shut down the Cougars the rest of the match, with Chitty securing 11 saves en route to Cayuga’s third shutout victory of the season.

Twigg had three shots on goal to go with the match’s lone score, Maxwell Bedford had two shots on goal, and Zander Wishart had one. Steedman and Gammons were both credited with an assist.

Cayuga is back at Falcon Park to host Tompkins Cortland Community College on Wednesday, September 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
