Four members of the Hobart baseball team were named to the 2025 All-Liberty League teams, which were announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Senior pitcher Griffin Snyder (Saint Joseph’s Collegiate Institute/Cheektowaga, N.Y.) earned second team recognition, while junior pitcher Teck Nash (Christian Brothers Academy/Cicero, N.Y.), senior catcher Owen Sanders (Catholic Memorial/Boston, Mass.) and sophomore first baseman Sean Garvin (Westwood/Westwood, Mass.) were selected to the third team.
Snyder appeared in nine games this season, starting eight. He posted a 3.40 ERA over 39 2/3 innings, striking out 22 batters while compiling a 2-2 record. He was fourth in the Liberty League in ERA and also ranked in the top 10 in fewest walks allowed (8th, 14). Snyder struck out a season-high five batters in 3 2/3 innings against Colby-Sawyer.
A transfer from Russell Sage, Snyder was 11-12 in his collegiate career (7-9 at Hobart), throwing 172 innings (137 2/3). He finished his career with 98 strikeouts (81).
Nash was named to the all-conference teams for the second straight season after earning first-team recognition last year. He threw a team-leading 64 2/3 innings in 10 starts this year. Nash posted a 4.31 ERA with a team-high 37 strikeouts and a 2-4 record. He was sixth in the nation in walks per nine innings (0.84) and 25th in strikeout-to-walk (6.17). Nash was named the Liberty League Pitcher of the Week after throwing a complete game five-hitter to beat St. Lawrence 7-2. He struck out a season-high eight batters against Ursinus.
Through three seasons, Nash has appeared in 30 games, compiling a 6-13 record with a 5.09 ERA and 86 strikeouts.
A starter in 22 of 26 games he played, Sanders hit .265 with 16 RBIs, two doubles and a home run. He had four multi-hit games this season, including a 2-for-3 effort with four RBIs at Skidmore. Sanders clubbed a two-run double and a two-run homer against the Thoroughbreds. He also threw out 12 would-be base stealers this year, third in the Liberty League.
A transfer from Gettysburg, Sanders appeared in 37 career games, hitting .263 with 20 hits and 17 RBIs.
Garvin was a fixture at first base this season, starting all 35 games. He hit .279 with a .377 slugging percentage and a .393 on-base percentage. Garvin was second on the team with 34 hits, including a team-leading 35 doubles, a triple and a home run. He also led the team with 26 RBIs and 21 walks. Garvin had nine multi-hit games, including three-hit games against Gwynedd Mercy and Rensselaer. In the field, he committed just four errors in 330 chances and was part of 36 of the team’s 39 double plays.
Garvin has started 71 of the 70 games he’s played at Hobart, hitting .256 with 11 doubles, a triple and two home runs. He has 44 RBIs, 43 runs scored, 41 walks and nine stolen bases.
Hobart finished the season with an 18-17 overall record, the program’s first winning season since returning to varsity status in 2023. The Statesmen were among the national leaders in double plays turned this season, averaging 1.11 per game, second in Division III. On the base paths, Hobart ranked 12th in the country in stolen bases per game (3.14).
