Cayuga Community College Men’s Basketball fell behind early and couldn’t catch Tompkins Cortland Community College in a road loss on Wednesday.
The Spartans started slow on the offensive end, and despite a better second half fell 83-59 to the Panthers. Cayuga is now 4-12 on the season and 4-10 in Region III play.
Tompkins Cortland took an early lead behind a pair of three-pointers, then led the rest of the way through the first half. Tony Borges and Desean Strachan led Cayuga’s offense with six points apiece and Marcus Pasha had seven rebounds as the Spartans trailed 36-21 at the break.
Cayuga’s offense picked up in the second half, with Borges and Pasha combining for 21 points in the frame. The Panthers, though, retained a double-digit lead throughout the half to come away with the win.
Borges led Cayuga with 19 points while also collecting 13 rebounds, and Pasha finished with 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Strachan had 12 points, five assists and four rebounds, and Samiar Bennett had 11 points.
Cayuga is on the road again Saturday, Feb. 1, at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
