The Keuka College Baseball team lost 7-1 to SUNY Brockport in an Empire 8 Conference game in Auburndale, Florida on Saturday morning.
Wyatt Ernst (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan / Holy Cross) pitched well for Keuka College (5-8, 0-3 Empire 8). Ernst went seven innings for the Green and Gold and allowed just three runs while striking out three. Tyler Lewandowski (Milltown, N.J. / Spotswood) had a single, two stolen bases, and a run scored for the Wolves.
SUNY Brockport used a pair of bunts in the first inning to start a rally and get a run, but the Wolves answered in the bottom of the frame. Tyler Lewandowski led off with a single to center. He stole second and was bunted to third. Following Kyle Wood (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) getting hit by the pitch, Wood stole second. While he avoided the tag at second, Lewandowski stole home to tie the game at 1-1.
The Golden Eagles took the lead in the third, again starting the rally with a bunt single. However, starting pitcher Wyatt Ernst worked out of trouble to keep the game at 2-1.
Ernst remained in control on the mound for the Wolves. The junior from Canada got a strikeout to end the sixth with the Wolves still trailing 2-1.
Brockport added a run in the seventh. The Wolves threatened in the bottom of the eighth, putting two on and two out, but a flyout ended the inning.
The Golden Eagles tacked on four more runs in the ninth as they defeated the Wolves 7-1.
