Cayuga Community College Men’s Soccer earned its third straight win to start the season on Saturday, led by four goals from Jake Botterill.
The Spartans tallied their first goal just minutes into the match and added six more throughout the afternoon to complete the 7-0 win. Cayuga is now 3-0 on the season, with all three wins coming via shutout.
Botterill opened the scoring with a quick goal two minutes into the contest, but the Saints held the Spartans scoreless over the next 30 minutes of play. Cayuga’s defense also held, though, and the Spartans eventually broke through late in the half. Reece Harper made it 2-0 Cayuga with about 10 minutes left, and Botterill scored twice more to make it 4-0 Spartans at the break.
The second half was all Cayuga, with Jack Thomas and Hayden Poole scoring their first goals of the season, and Botterill notching his fourth and final score of the match.
Botterill also had an assist to go with his four goals, while Thomas had two assists. Harper, Poole, Joseph Edet, and Kai Reading had assists.
Cayuga faces Clinton Community College on Sunday, Sept. 8. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
