A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit filed by the family of a man who was fatally struck in 2019 by a car driven by former Syracuse University men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim.
The Associated Press reports terms of the settlement reached by Boeheim and the survivors of Jorge Jimenez will remain sealed at the request of all parties.
The 51-year-old Jimenez was struck and killed after he had exited a disabled car and Boeheim swerved to avoid hitting the car. According to the police investigation, Boeheim was driving 66 mph in a 55 mph zone on I-690 seconds before he struck Jimenez.
Syracuse Police determined Boeheim was not reckless and the crash could still have been deadly even if he had been driving at the speed limit. Boeheim was not charged.
