While in Auburn last month to take her oath of office, State Senator Rachel May said she would advocate for the health of Owasco Lake and she is making good on that promise.
May has written a letter to Acting Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health Doctor James McDonald explaining to him the environmental challenges facing the lake. She went on to request the department of health expedite the approval of the proposed changes to the Owasco Lake Watershed Rules and Regulations as well as receive an update on their status by February 24th.
Auburn and Owasco put forth the rules and regulations back in 2020.
