Report: Over 1/2 of New Yorkers Don’t Make a Living Wage

SHARE NOW

Over half of New York’s residents earn below a living wage – that’s according to research done by Cornell University.

The school says a digital wage atlas they launched shows that only 39.1% of New Yorkers make at least a living wage.

Accommodation and food service workers, part of the state’s tourism industry, are the least likely to earn a living wage.

The atlas estimates living wages on a county level, taking into account local costs of things like food, housing, medical care, and taxes.
