Ontario County officials are looking towards the day when the landfill in the town of Seneca could be closed.
According to the Finger Lakes Times, the board’s supervisor’s Planning and Environmental Quality Committee agreed this week to solicit requests for a specialized consultant. The consultant would conduct a comprehensive economic impact analysis on residents and businesses if the decision is made to close the landfill in 2028, which is when its current state permit expires and the landfill will be at capacity.
The full Board of Supervisors will consider hiring the consultant when it meets later this month.
